1. Petronas Twin Towers

The most popular destination in Malaysia, Twin Towers has attract millions of travellers each year to Malaysia. It is the highest twin towers in the world with 88 stories, approximately 452 meters in height. I believe that this landmark is one of the most remarkable one in the world 

Twin Towers is the head quarter of Petronas, which is a Malaysian oil and gas company. The word Petronas comes from Petro + Nasional ( national ).

The highlight that you should not miss when you visit Petronas tower is the observation deck on 86th floor. You will get to explore the city scape with panorama view. Click here to book the cheap ticket.

For those of you who’s scared of height, I would suggest you to stay on the ground and explore KLCC park.


KLCC Park is a public park in the center of Kuala Lumpur. It’s a great spot for exercise on the weekend and it will turn into a vibrant spot for teen to hangout at night, with a view of dancing fountain at 8, 9 and 10 PM.

Under Petronas Tower, there is a luxurious mall called Suria KLCC. You can spend some time shopping and having a meal here. On the opposite, there is Avenue-K, which offers more choices of cuisine. 



2. Aquaria KLCC

If you want to explore the under water world, Aquaria KLCC is the only Kuala Lumpur place to visit. See all kinds of aquatic creatures. The highlight of the aquarium is a 90-meter long underwater tunnel that allows you to see huge fish, including sharks, rays, sea turtles, and more.

Personally, I liked this place and I would like to recommend you to visit if you have a slot of 2 hours. 

How to get there: You can get there by LRT train, get off at KLCC station and walk through Suria KLCC mall to Convetion Center, you will find Aquaria.

   


3. Batu Cave

The Hindu religious cave has become a major tourist attraction near Kuala Lumpur, yet the journey can be reached by KTM, get off at Buta Cave Station, which is an hour ride from KL Sentral, the city’s transportation hub. If you decide to take KTM, you must spare some times because KTM is the most unreliable mode of transportation in KL.

Arriving at Batu Cave station, you still have to walk up 270 staircases to reach the cave itself. There are many monkeys on the way up, so be prepared! Do not bring food because you might get attacked by them.

Inside the cave is very humid, I had a hard time breathing in the cave.

4. Putra Mosque @ Putra Jaya

Putra Mosque as known as Pink Mosque of Putra Jaya. Located near Putrajaya & Cyber Jaya station, it takes about 35 minutes by KLIA Transit ride from KL Sentral, priced at RM14 per person. An alternative way to get there is to take a Grab Car from Kuala Lumpur, the price will be around 30-35 RM, which will be cheaper if you shared among your peer.

Saturday – Thursday 9 AM – 12.30 PM, 2-4 PM , 5.30-6 PM

Friday 3-4 PM , 5.30-6 PM

Putra Mosque is one of the most beautiful mosque in Malaysia, located in an epic surrounding- mountain and river.



You can not wear shorts and sleeveless shirt to enter the mosque. You must get change and wear a red robe to enter. Please respect the rule, since this is a sacred place for Muslim.



The green building here is. The Perdana Putra, which is a building in Putrajaya, Malaysia which houses the office complex of the Prime Minister of Malaysia.


5. Masjid Jamek

Located in the city center, Masjid Jamek is one of the most famous and the oldest Islamic place of worship in Kuala Lumpur. Located between the Klang River and Gombak, it offers breathtaking photo opportunities for travellers due to the combination of ancient Moorish, Islam and Mughal architectural styles

Masjid Jamek is also known by local as “Friday Mosque”. It is because it’s the biggest religious gathering place on Friday in the area. Soooo, it will not be opened on Friday!

  


6. China Town or Petaling Street

A small street that is full of shops and stalls selling items and food, Petaling Street is an iconic place to explore Chinese culture. There are many famous restaurants  that have been operated on the street for many years. Plus, there are many cute cafe for you to quench your thirst on a hot sunny day.


7. Thean Hou Temple

One of the most touristy temple in Kuala Lumpur, Thean Hou temple is popular among chinese-malaysian. Also, it is one of the oldest and largest temples in Southeast Asia. It is located up the hill, overlooking a beautiful city of Kuala Lumpur. 

Many people come here to worship Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy.

Entering the temple, you will see the polygon building with red structure. It is believe to be the symbol of wealth and prosperity.

 

If you get to visit Thean Hou, you should try your luck by getting a fortune telling stick. People believe that it can foresee your future.


8. Perdana Botanical Garden

Perdana Botanical Garden as known as Lake Gardens is one of the most instagramable spot in KL.

The most dominant structure in the park is this “yellow tree” that is giving shade for people doing exercise.

  


9. Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia

If you’re into art and museum, Islamic arts museum is a must visit for you. It is showcasing Islamic decorative arts from all over the world, housing of more than 7,000 items.

Personally, I am not a museum type of person. But this museum has more to offer. There are few spots that are interesting and I would like you to give it a try as well. 

  


10. Central Market

Central Market is located near by Petaling Street. You will find more than 300 shops selling handicrafts, textiles, souvenirs and food.

The whole building is air-coned. So you can spend time chilling in the Central Market, buying souvenir for your love one or even have a nice meal at the food court for affordable price. 


11. Bukit Bintang

Bukit Bintang is the trendiest shopping and entertainment district, offering everything from brand names , famous chain restaurants, famous 5 stars hotels. 

There are big shopping malls like Lot 10, Isetan, Faranheight, and the biggest one in the area is Pavillion.

How to get there

You can get there conveniently by MRT. Get off at Pavillion Bukit Bintang Station. If you take Monorail, you can get off at Air Asia Bukit Bintang station.


12. Jalan Alor

Malaysia is famous for its street food. And the most famous street for street food in Kuala Lumpur is Jalan Alor. Located a short waking distance from Bukit Bintang, you will get to explore delicious and savoury food. 

Since it is a touristy spot, you can expect the price point to be higher than average. For example, Thai salad, you can expect it to be at 20 to 25 RM while the average price point is at 10-20 RM. 


13. KL Tower

One of the landmarks of Kuala Lumpur beside Twin Towers, KL Tower has its own unique charm. Offering the observation deck experience, you will get to see city view 360 degrees. To get up to the observation deck, it takes only 54 seconds!

The highlight of the observation deck is Sky Box, which is a transparent glass area that you can look down the building.  

 


14. Kuala Lumpur Railway Station

KL Railway Station is a main transportation hub for KL. It was designed by Arthur Benison Hubback. He also designed Ipoh railway station, you will see the same architectural design from both railway stations.

 


15. Masjid Negra

Masjid Negra is located in the center of the city. It was built in 1965 as the symbol of solidarity Malay. There are sourounded by famous tourist destinations such as Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia,  Merdeka Square.

   

16. Jalan Alor Street Art

Not only it’s famous for street food, Jalan Alor has turned into an art street. 

If you have some time before sunset, I would recommend you to visit this street art near Jalan Alor for instagramable photos. 

These street arts are hidden in the housing area, so you must be careful since it’s quite crowded and quiet.
